A few months ago when Rita asked me to shoot her maternity photos, I instantly said yes and ideas began racing through my head. Little did I know at the time that we would be returning to Niles City.
Stefani's Epic Bridal Shoot @ The McKinney Cotton Mill
Meet Stefani, one of Lisa's brides, that I had the wonderful opportunity to join on her bridal session. It's not every day that you run across a bride that wants to break away from the traditional floral and garden shots that normally go with bridal shoots. Stefani wanted something different and unique, and Lisa threw out the suggestion of the McKinney Cotton Mill. I don't think there could have been a better place for her.
Blondes vs Brunettes Dallas: 2011
For the past two years, Eric and I have had the privilege to cover the Blondes vs Brunettes charity football game. The powder puff style football game raises money and awareness for the Greater Dallas Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association. Over 70% of Dallas participants have been touched personally by Alzheimer’s disease and they've pledged to spend their summer with the organization as a way to help others in the North Texas community that are struggling with similar stories. This year marked the forth annual game for the Dallas foundation, and the girls were able to raise an incredible $250,000.
All Stars Festival @ The Palladium 7.24.11
Chaos, mayhem, and panic was in store for the Palladium Ballroom, and that was before the any of the 30 or so bands even took the stage. Due to the recent deaths and injuries at the Electric Daisy Carnival, the Dallas Fire Marshall and Police Department would not allow the promoter, AEG, to operate stages in both the main room and the South Side Music Hall.
Dallas Maverick Dancer Tryouts 2011
On July 23rd and 24th the World Champion Dallas Mavericks held open auditions to become one of their new Maverick Dancers. at the Hilton Anatole. Eric and I were up early and in attendance to bring you these images. Hopefully we will get to see some of these smiling faces next season, as long as it isn't cancelled due to the NBA lockout. Lyndsey & John: Engaged in Niles City
It's always refreshing when a couple tells you that they want to break away from the mold of traditional engagement photos, and go somewhere "off the grid." It's also helps when your working with a creative, artistic, and easy going couple like Lyndsey and John. For their engagements we adventured deep into Niles City, climbing rubble and debris, dodging security, and avoiding the occasional vagrant. It was a long hot afternoon, that turned out being a lot of fun with pleasing results.
Congrats to the both of you on your engagement!
This Isn't The Asylum I Was Looking For
On the north side of Fort Worth, where the city lines start merging into Saginaw, there's an abandoned building complex that has sat vacant for years. I drive by this building at least once a week wondering what the story is behind it, and my desire to get inside and shoot it increases more and more. I've been told several stories of what the complex had once been. They range from an asylum, a weapons factory, and even an orphanage during World War 2.
Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader Tryouts 2011
On May 15, the Dallas Cowboys began their 3 week quest to fill the 2011-2012 Dallas Cowboy Cheerleader roster. Over 500 hopefuls tried out for the 15 available spots, beginning with group freestyle dance, then being dwindled down for individual sessions for the semi-finals and finals. Being the level headed professionals that Eric and I are, we found it to be our duty to head out and document the event to the best of our ability. Don't get me wrong, this was an extremely challenging shoot to cover, but someone had to do it. These are a few selections from my camera.
The Baker Hotel - 02.01.2003
While going through some old photos, I found this collection that I had shot on February 1, 2003 and thought I'd post it since The Baker Hotel has been making quite a bit of news as of late.
This was one of those days that I probably would never forget, even if I didn't have pictures to remind me. It was an unseasonably warm Saturday morning, that was quickly shattered by the sounds of Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrating over North Texas as it was re-entering the atmosphere. While most people I know were glued to the television or making plans to head east to pick up Shuttle parts, I decided, along with my partners in crime, John Lewis and Jamin Mitchell to head west out to Mineral Wells.
The Debut of Double Barrel Bastards @ Bronco's 3.5.11
Part two of Saturday night's festivities was the much anticipated debut of Double Barrel Bastards. Over the past few months, the five pictured above, have been getting together in their free time, away from their main bands, to brew up some Southern Metal.
Whiskey Dick @ Bronco's 3.5.11
Lock up your children and hide your wife, Whiskey Dick is bringing their brand of acoustic-metalhead-country to a town near you. Saturday night, Bronco's hosted a benefit put together by the Pull Getter's Association to help raise money for Whiskey Dick's April-May trek across the U.S.
The guys took the stage before a completely packed house, full of the WD faithful, and several well known local musicians scattered here and there. They didn't disappoint as they ripped through their rather large catalog, that included quite a bit from their latest release Drunk As Hell.
Memphis May Fire @ The Aardvark 2.13.11
I wasn't sure what to expect from Memphis May Fire as I headed toward the Aardvark in Fort Worth. I'd heard their latest EP, 'Between the Lies', and the track they contributed to the Saw 6 soundtrack, 'Ghost in the Mirror', but I hadn't seen them live. I was intrigued on how they would pull this material, a mesh of hardcore-metal-electronica, off live. About two minutes into their set, all my questions were set at ease.
Playing infront of a "nut-to-butt" crowd, Memphis May Fire erupted with a........
Super Bowl Week - Adrian Peterson's Wrap Up Party @ The Grey Goose Lounge
Well a fun and interesting week had to come to an end, and there's no better way to wrap it up then returning to the Grey Goose Lounge and hanging out with Adrian Peterson, Mark Ingram, and a few hundred of their friends. The Super Bowl was over, and Greenbay was once again victorius, but when the doors closed at 4am, the Grey Goose Lounge would be packing up and moving on after a week of extremly fun debouchery. Super Bowl Week - Demarcus Ware & Andre Gurode Kick Off Party @ The Grey Goose Lounge
Grey Goose popped the cork on their exclusive lounge with Demarcus Ware & Andre Gurode at the helm Wednesday night. And like any good host, they invited a few hundred of their closest friends, including a few fellow Cowboy players, Playboy Playmates, and a musician or two. The party was great, even though the weather outside was dreadful. Welcome to Dallas, I hope you enjoy the Super Bowl and 3 inches of ice. (22 pictures)
