When your best friend asks you to come over and shoot her maternity photos you naturally show up with a whole bunch of milk and tell her to hop in the bathtub, right?!? Well that's what we did and they came out awesome. And of course we had to get some silly silhouette shots too! Congrats to Shelby and Chris and the beautiful baby girl they brought into this world!Read More
Sitting just to the east and casting a shadow on the Stockyards sat a group of buildings in extreme decay, the heart of what was once Niles City. Comprised of a little over one half square mile in size, it once had 508 inhabitants and was labelled the "richest little city in Texas" due to the Fort Worth Stockyards Company, The Swift & Armour Packing Company, and the Stockyard Exchange. 1911 it was valued at $12 million. When the Swift & Armour Packing Company was operating at it's peak, 4,000 men and women were reporting for work. In 1923 Niles City was annexed and became a part of Fort Worth.Read More
I've been a terrible blog owner, but it's really not my fault. Nope, I blame it all on my clients who have done a fantastic job of keeping me extremely busy. So busy that I almost forget that I have this website. But honestly it hasn't been that bad of a problem and I thank all my clients for it!
So let me take a few minutes to announce that I'm now doing video work...again. It's been roughly 15 years since I did my last music video and at least 10 years since the last commercial video I shot/directed/produced. But thanks to Richard Hennessy, lead singer/guitarist in the fantastic band Henry The Archer, I'm back making videos again.Read More
Dia De Los Toadies is an annual festival where the Toadies invite a bunch of their friends to tear up the stage with them over the course of a few days. For it's 7th year it returned to Panther Island Pavillon in downtown Fort Worth, Texas.Read More
About 3 years ago after an Eye Was Once Eaten practice, Matt Stubbs threw out the idea of starting a podcast. Now there are a lot of ideas (some of them rather insane) thrown around during a band practice, but this one actually stuck with me. I have been an avid listener to podcasts for several years now, mostly tech and political conspiracy style shows, but doing one our self seemed like a fun idea. Unfortunately between my family, photography, and being in a band there wasn't much time to try and fit a podcast in.Read More
The problem with doing commercial shoots is that sometimes you have to wait a really long time to post any of the photos. Like in the case of this shoot with Emerson Windy that we did in April of 2013. But it's completely understandable when your dealing with an artist that is building out their promotional material for future campaigns. In fact I just wrapped up a badass shoot with Emerson a couple of weeks ago that will be used over the next few months for a marketing and album campaign that I'm dieing to show everyone. Seriously rad!Read More
When I was in high school spending my weekends discovering and following local bands, there was a band that I encountered one weekend that blew my mind. That band was Brutal Juice. Their music was an angst filled teenagers wet dream and they are now considered a legendary, integral part of the Denton and D/FW music scene in the 90's. Lead singer Craig Welch's on stage antics were the definition of insanity; smashing bottles and snuffing out cigarettes on his head, dancing around like a mad man on LSD, and gazing into the eyes of audience members with an intensity that would burn through them. All of this going on while a pummeling force of music was pulsating and churning behind him, Brutal Juice was acid punk fueled by rage, narcotics, and hysteria.Read More
So two of my good friends decided to see if they could do their part in populating the planet and extending the future of the human race. And to all of our amazement they succeeded! Yay! And what do you do when one of your good friends suddenly has a humanoid expanding her waist line? You photograph her, and then come up with crazy uncomfortable photoshoot ideas that most normal people would find bizarre and fill your email box up with borderline angry comments. But for right now, let's stick with the normal photos.Read More
Confession; One of my favorite shoots to do is Bridals. And what puts these shoots over the top is when you have an awesome bride that introduces you to a place you've never been to, much less knew existed. When Nikki and I met, she told me that she wanted to shoot her bridals at the same location her reception was going to be, The Dallas Heritage Village. I've worked, shot, all around Dallas for years, and I never knew this place existed.....a stones throw from downtown in one direction and the Cedar's in the other. The village is a photography playground, with so much to shoot around that we could have shot there for a couple of days.Read More
It's been a long summer of private and commercial shoots, but when the calendar turns to fall and the temperatures start to drop, that means it's time to start having fun with this years High School Seniors!Read More
I've fallen behind with my posts on this trip, I was hoping my schedule wouldn't be this crazy when I returned from Africa. But you know what they say about idle minds.....
Our day began just before sunrise as we all met up at "the meeting" spot before loading into our Land Rovers. It was a crisp cool morning and todays hunt was for the elusive leopard and a big male lion. As exited out of the back gate of camp we didn't have to go further then a couple of hundred yards to see our favorite pride of cats.Read More
Once again, it's that time of year. The days get longer, the temperature gets hotter, and the bikini's come out. Yep, It's full on bikini season and what a better way to kick it off then with the annual Twin Peaks Bikini Contest!
This year we did something a little different for the girls at the Round Rock Twin Peaks restaurant; we all met up at the Hilton Garden Suites and set up shop. The girls got their hair and make-up done by Christina Shepek, Stacy Shepek, and Andrea Fernandez, and then got a quick little photo shoot by Eric Garcia and myself.Read More
So I haven't been to terribly regular at keeping this blog up to date. A lot of that has to do with how busy my wonderful clients have kept me over the last few months, and for this I'm incredibly thankful for. So right now I want to give a big THANK YOU to all of you for keeping me busy!
Every year I put this list together of albums that have been in regular rotation in my life. It's really just a way of recording what I liked so that way later on in life I can either praise or make fun of my musical choices for that year.Read More
When I got together with Taylor and her parents for her pre-session consult, I knew we were going to have some fun. Video games, comic books, and marching band this session was right up my alley and every boy's dream! But wait, Taylor is a girl, and we need her to look cute and magnificent while in these rad locations...
Well that was no problem for hair and makeup extraordinaire Natalie Alana, who took Taylor for beautiful to magnificent at the blink of an eye. Not only was I super impressed, but both her mom and dad were floored. Thank you Natalie!
But honestly all props go to Taylor for being a trooper, having some amazing ideas while out on the shoot, and being a truly unique gem. I had an amazing time while we were out, and I want to say thanks for allowing me to shoot her senior pics. Enjoy this time in your life, because before you know it, it's a distant memory.
Cheers Taylor, Northwest Class of 2013!
Let the geek out begin:
When the galaxies most notorious bounty hunter gives you a call about updating his head shots and portfolio because he's thinking about entering the world of online dating, you don't tell him no. I didn't feel like becoming a slave for one of the Hutts or a meal for the Sarlacc. Unlike some in the Alliance, I fear and respect Boba Fett, and if he needs new photos for his portfolio, then I'm glad to be of service to him.
Like most boys born in the late 70's, I was and will always be, a Star Wars fan. Sure Episodes I-III are no where near as good as the original trilogy, but I can fight through them. It's more about the lore and the literary universe surrounding it now that has become more intriguing then the films. There's also the Clone Wars cartoons that my son and I enjoy watching, and they are actually pretty well written. But I digress....
Every since I first saw the Empire Strikes Back in 1980 I was drawn to the ice-cold-coolness of Boba Fett. He quickly became my favorite character. So when I heard that my cousin was acquiring all the pieces to complete a full costume, I knew a photo shoot had to go down. Plus it would give me a chance to work on some different compositing techniques and new editing styles. None of these images are HDR, just straight editing using the NIK software suite.
Special thanks to Andre Pagan and his bad ass set of armor. Hopefully this isn't the last time we shoot Boba Fett's antics around the D/FW area.
Geek time over, I think....
The 12th annual North Texas VW show rolled into the Lockheed Martin Recreational Area today with more then 300 Volkswagens entering the show, and a few hundred more spotted through out the parking lot. Each car required a $10 entry, with all the proceeds going to the Hope Center for Autism in Fort Worth.

This is the my new home on the interwebs, I like to call it Plastik Object Version 3.0. The layout has changed, the old blog entries are gone, but some may return over the course of the next few months. Time is always what balances that decision out.
So for I ask for a little patience as I slowly get all systems back up and running, and hopefully there will soon be a nice steady flow of blog entries . I know I have a lot to post and get caught up on. Until then thanks for swinging by and checking out the new place, house warming gifts are always appreciated.
